Food for thought

Duration 60mins

Join us in Moorabbin to take a surprising look at living in your own food chain. Discover the different life cycle forms of mealworms and how they can turn your vegetable scraps into protein.

Our mini mealworm farms give you an amazing insight into an entire real-life cycle BUT this doesn't need to be the end of this story.

Imagine snacking on the insects you farm and using their waste as fertilizer for the vegetables you grow. This is a fun filled and thought provoking workshop suitable for all ages.

additional activity during playzone session

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav) are coming to TwistED! Ever wanted to ask a scientist about black holes or gravitational waves? Now you can!

On top of that the OzGrav team are setting up a bunch of amazing exhibits. You can experience the fun of gaming in the solar system and get to ask any questions you like from the black hole hunters themselves.

Put on a VR headset and take a virtual tour around the solar system, then discover old stars and gravitational waves.

Grab a virtual planet and see if you can throw it into orbit around a black hole as you learn about gravity’s pull.

See lasers and find out how they are set up to detect gravitational waves (tiny ripples in space and time).
